About Scott
45+ Years of practice.
Scott Himes is a highly experienced litigator and trial lawyer skilled in handling complex and challenging civil matters. In 2025, after nearly five decades of continuous practice, he transitioned to a semi-retired role, remaining active through bar association work, continuing legal education, legal writing, and pro bono matters. Scott also represents clients selectively for discrete litigation challenges.
At the time he retired from full-time practice, Scott was a name partner at Kishner Miller Himes P.C., where he focused on complex business and commercial litigation. Before KMH, Scott was a partner for some 30 years at the highly regarded litigation and white-collar defense boutique Stillman & Friedman, P.C., later becoming a partner at the national firm Ballard Spahr LLP when the firms merged. He began his career at Kaye Scholer, another major law firm.
Scott’s practice has centered on civil litigation, with an emphasis on complex commercial and business disputes. His experience spans breach of contract, real estate, fraud and securities fraud, RICO, fiduciary duty and partnership disputes, insurance and professional liability, intellectual property and trade secrets, business torts, and employment matters. He has represented corporations, professionals, and individuals at all stages of litigation, including trials and appeals, in federal and state courts, regulatory proceedings, and multi-party, multi-jurisdiction disputes. Known for his strategic judgment and cost-efficient approach, Scott takes particular pride in guiding clients through high-stakes and contentious proceedings.
Outside of practice, Scott is an avid reader of historical fiction and spy novels and a devoted professional football fan. He is a long-time resident of Brooklyn Heights, where he and his wife Carol raised their two sons, and where he is now often seen walking the family labradoodle, Sydney.

Many of the programs focus on Scott’s insights involving “best practices” and “how-to’s” of litigation and trial practice. Most recently, for example, he moderated a program titled “The ‘How To’ of Successful Motion Practice: Practical Advice and Tips,” which included as panelists federal and state court judges and experienced litigators. Upcoming programs include one titled “Acquiring Third-Party Evidence to Prove Your Case at Trial,” and an updated three-part program on taking and defending depositions.
